I thought love was dead

I thought empathy was dead

I was just expecting it from the wrong people

I thought hope was dead
I was predictably wrong
I was just expecting the impossible

I am not going to weep for what has happened
For the past cannot be changed

For the present is what it is

I am not going to weep for what is to come
For the future has yet to be written

I thought life was cruel
I was never more wrong
I only momentarily lost sight of what really is
