When the lion took a nap
The lemurs started a conspiracy
With jaguars lurking in the shadows
The burrowing by the moles were in full swing
And vultures not to be outdone, were circling above
The bears were in hibernation
When the goose honked the signal
The leopards leapt into action
Helping the hyena seize the crown
And just like that, the lion lost its pride
With the hyena installed as the king of jungle
The predators came out to pray prey
A sudden drought did not stop their maneuvering
The snakes started peddling medicine
The rats pilfered from the storehouse
The maggots devoured all they can find
It was mayhem all over
As the monkeys started preaching
The owls abandoned the academies
The crocodiles lurked in the muddy waters
Waiting to make the starving deer their quarry
With a foul and pestilent congregation
Trust and honour were abandoned
Heavy is the head that wears the crown
When he had opened the gates
For the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse to ride in
It is a jungle out there
Is no longer just an idiom
