The historian was not happy
Not happy how history was written
He wanted to go back in time
To see things as it was

He wanted to meet Noah
To see him fit all the animals into the Ark
He wanted to witness the Kurukshetra War
And take a ride on the vimana

He wanted to be in Rome
And listen to Nero fiddle his violin
He wanted to have wine with the Pharaohs
And witness the building of the pyramids

He wanted to ride with Alexander the Great
And determine the cause of his death
He wanted to sit with Isaac Newton
To observe the apple hitting his head

The historian was not happy
That he was not able to get a time machine
Living in the present but searching for the past
Searching for the past but ignoring the future
