Remembering the moments
Of the highs and lows
As I get a year older

Fifty-five is just a number
Can be a milestone
But prefer it to be a stepping-stone

It has been quite a journey from the start
Hoping for an equally fascinating ride ahead

Blessed in sharing the journey
With wonderful family and friends

Blessed in knowing the difference
Between the good, the bad and the ugly

Recalling the times
Of the first day at school
And the dread of exams
Of the first day at work
And the joy of the first paycheck
Of the first kiss
And the enigma of youth
Of the first beer
And the fear of getting caught
Of holding my baby boys
And sharing this journey with them

Keeping in memory
Of those who have passed on
Of those who have made mark on me
Of the happy times and the sad episodes
Of the successes but more importantly the failures

Fifty-five is just a number
Hoping to add on to the memories
Speeding ahead to the years to come
There is no speed limit ahead
