Confessions of an atheist

 

I tried praying last night
But it was difficult being an atheist
God did not answer
When I called for him

Perhaps he was vindictive
For constantly questioning his existence

Perhaps he was spiteful
That I never sang his praise

(By the way, is god a man or a woman?)

God had no reason to reciprocate
A skeptic and a freethinker like me
Or perhaps I was just barking up the wrong tree
Not knowing where to find him

I tried looking for god today
But it was difficult being an atheist
Hell (sorry for the pun), it must be difficult for anyone
Even for the believer

So many different religions
So many cults and sects
So many codes and rules
Each claiming to be the one true path

It was not an easy choice
Yet it was an easy choice

Creating divisions
Creating separations
Creating differences
Seeking divinity in disunity

I will not try praying tonight
It is not difficult being an atheist
Will have an educated discussion instead
With my imaginary friend of course
