The ass is an ass
There was once a drove of donkeys
Who claimed they were horses
They were led by an ass
Who proclaimed he was a unicorn
For all their lies and treachery
They still managed to gather a following
Of the stupid and foolhardy
Of the naive and the senseless
The horses chose the high road
Ignored the cacophony
Set out to live their life peacefully
Their neighs were gentler than the brays
Alas, it was such a folly
The brays reverbrated louder
And the donkeys snatched the mantle
Gloating and strutting everywhere
It was truly a kingdom of the blind
For the squint had become the king
But a kingdom built on deceit
Is like a castle made of sand
In a long race
The jackass is of no match for the thoroughbred
In a beauty contest
The jenny is of no match to the Persian
For all the conniving, scheming and duplicity
The ass will always be an ass
