The sad Maharajah

 

The Maharajah was depressed
He had the crown
But wanted to be the clown

The Maharajah was distraught
On the throne, he was serious in meeting out the law
But all he wanted to do was let loose with a loud guffaw

The Maharajah was miserable
He thought his life was a disaster
If only he could be the court jester

The Maharajah was sad
His kingdom was a paradise in the tropics
But all he wanted was his Sunday comics

The Maharajah was wretched
Pretty as a picture was the Maharani
If only she found his jokes to be funny

The Maharajah was feeling blue
So he got himself a puppy
Now when he is all gloomy
The Shih Tzu made his life chirpy
